*On May 4, 2013, incumbent Jean Kessner lost the designation of the Syracuse Democratic Committee for the councilor at-large seat. Instead, the committee designated Jeff Write and Pamela Hunter for the the two at-large seats up in the Nov. 5, 2013, election. Kessner is challenging Write and Hunter in a primary on Sept. 10 for the Democratic nomination.

In the fall of 2009, Jean Kessner ran against Fanny Villarreal and Lance Denno for Common Council councilor at-large. Kessner and Denno were both elected. Information is from 2009.

Occupation— investigative reporter for 26 years. Former director of public relations for the AIDS Community Resources

Family— son, Brennan, and four grandchildren: Parker, Maya, Zoe and Maro

Education— went to the University of Evansville and finished her bachelor’s degree in sociology and political science at the University of the State of New York
