“I don’t know if it’s possible for the politicians to do something about the Carousel Center, which is just a building that’s been built and the addition anyways. And there’s nothing being done with it. And a lot of the roads around the carousel mall need to be worked on as well.”
(Pat Downs, 37, of Syracuse, advertising salesman for Table Hopping Magazine, not affiliated with a particular party, but votes Democrat)

“Andrew Cuomo would be the best one for New York state. I think because he has experience and his father was a governor before and he is just very well liked.”
(Kim Petista, mid-forties, of Syracuse, unemployed, Democrat)

“All the violence that is going on downtown. Little kids harassing the people that be at the bus stops, all the drug dealers that be downtown, the little girls with the little bad attitudes. That’s probably about it.” Maybe more police officers in the streets than in cars.”
(Tia Sweeting, 25, of Syracuse,  Dunkin Donuts cashier, not affiliated with a political party, but voted for Democrat Barack Obama for president in 2008)

“Get better jobs for people. A lot of people use that for an excuse, but in reality it is the truth. It’s kind of hard to find a decent job out here.”
(Messiah Maze, 28, of Syracuse, unemployed, declined to give party affiliation)

“Stopping the violence, how people get back and forth to work, more jobs. Prices need to drop seriously.”
(Sharde Hayes, 21, of Syracuse, Kentucky Fried Chicken cashier, not Affiliated with a political party).
