Biography

**Kimatian was elected as the Republican nominee in the primary election with 1.645 votes September 15, 2009.**

**The Post-Standard reported on July 30, that Kimatian won the Independence Party's endorsement over Stephanie Miner  by a court ruling. The ruling settled a dispute between the local and state committees over who the party's candidate should be and settled in favor of the state. The local committee said it plans to challenge the ruling.**

Occupation — general counsel, Newport Television, which owns 56 television stations, including WSYR-TV in Syracuse (; regional vice president, Clear Channel Television (1995-2007); for 10 years hosted “Steve on Sunday,” an interview program with local Central New York leaders

Education — bachelors degree, Princeton University; J.D., Cornell Law School

Family — wife, Janet; two grown children, Ellen and Stephen John

Community Involvement — Upstate Medical Foundation, Success by Six, Syracuse City School District Foundation, Everson Museum; recipient of the 2003 President's Award for Distinguished Service by the Upstate Medical University

- supports creating an Airport Authority which would work closely with Centro

- supports creating a curfew where minors are not allowed out in public (with certain exceptions) after 11 p.m.
