For 119th Assembly Race, Fitch Bankrolls Own Campaign

Out of her own pocket, Republican Christina Fadden Fitch is bankrolling her run for the 119th District Assembly.

So far, Fitch has raised only $650, according to campaign finance reports filed with the New York State Board of Elections. She donated $50,000 to her own campaign committee. She has spent $41,117.

That compares to $22,013 raised this year by the incumbent, Democrat Joan Christensen. Christensen has spent $35,236 this year. This means Christensen has raised 33 times the amount of money Fitch has and has spent  $13,250 less than Fitch.

Fitch did not respond to requests to be interviewed. In the Nov. 4 election, Fitch is challenging Christensen, who has served as assemblywoman for the 119th District since 1990. Fitch lives in Liverpool and is in favor of a property tax cap, a moratorium on health care tax increases and a ban on abortion.

Here is a breakdown of Fitch’s contributors:

Seven contributors donated a total of $650.
Two of the seven donors live in the 119th District.  John Iannotta, of DeWitt, gave $100. Terry McHugh, of Syracuse, gave $150.
No single contribution to Fitch is over $100. But McHugh gave on two separate occasions, totaling $150. A contribution of $100 was classified as “unitemized.”
Fitch received no money from corporations, unions or political action committees.
Fitch has spent $41,117.
