Biography
On May 4, 2013, incumbent Van Robinson won the Syracuse Democratic Committee’s designation for president of the Common Council. On Nov. 20, 2012, Van Robinson confirmed to The Post-Standard that he will run for a second term as Common Council president. In 2008, Robinson ran unopposed for president. He has been on the Common Council since 1999 and was the city’s first black Council president.
