*On Nov. 6, 2012 Dave Valesky won his bid for re-election with 99 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Onondaga County Board of Elections.

Occupation— former vice-president of Communications and former host of the midday talk show “Hour CNY,” WCNY (1995-2004); former aide, former State Assembly Majority Leader Michael Bragman, (1989-1995);

Education— bachelor’s degree, SUNY Potsdam; master’s degree, University of Connecticut

Family— wife, Julie, and three sons, Brian, Nathan and Steven

District Description

*In 2012, redistricting changed the 49th state Senate District to the 53rd state Senate District. The district lost DeWitt, but gained Cicero and Salina. The newly drawn 53rd Senate District includes the city of Syracuse and the southeastern corner of Onondaga County, all of Madison County and two towns in Oneida County.
