* On May 4, 2013, incumbent Lance Denno lost the Syracuse Democratic Committee’s designation for the councilor at-large seat. Instead, the committee designated Jeff Write and Pamela Hunter for the the two at-large seats up in the Nov. 5, 2013, election.
In the fall of 2009, Lance Denno ran against Fanny Villarreal and Jean Kessner for Common Council councilor at-large. Denno and Kessner were both elected.
Biography
Denno hopes to provide full day Pre-K for all city children, increase neighborhood policing by foot patrols so officers can better understand their communities, and activate the Syracuse Parking Authority to eliminate the city tax-payer subsidy of parking garages.
Occupation — Retired Deputy Chief of Syracuse Fire Dept., served for 30 years.
Education — M.A. in Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; Nottingham High School
Family — Married with four children and three grandchildren
Community Involvement — Member of the Syracuse chapter of Parents for Public Schools, Inc.
Past Political Offices: Denno was elected a Common Councilor-at-Large in 2009. He’s also previously served on the District 5 council. He has served as chair of the governmental consolidation legislative committee, and has served on the finance, economic development and education committees.
