On June 26, 2012, Maragos lost the GOP primary with 340 votes in CNY, compared to 1,233 votes for Bob Turner and 5,715 votes for Wendy Long. Long will be the Republican challenger to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in the general election on Nov. 6, 2012.
Occupation: Nassau County Comptroller (2009-present); has worked for more than 35 years in banking, consulting and information systems industries, including as founder and president of SDS Financial Technologies; vice president of CitiBank; vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank
