Occupation — Economist. Former district administrator for the state Workers’ Compensation Board.
Education — B.A in Economics from Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
Family — Husband, George.
Issues — The economy. Burman believes a strong economy is the basis for healthy communities, and can lead to good jobs, good schools and well-maintained roads. Her economic plan includes replacing the Affordable Care Act, simplifying income taxes, reducing market regulations and providing community-based job training.
Community Involvement — Served as board president of the Syracuse Northeast Community Center. Served on the Everson Museum Members’ Council and Summerstage New York. Volunteered with American Red Cross, Cultural Resources Council, Dunbar Association,Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Junior League of Syracuse, Media Unit, and Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center, according to her website.
