INTRO: After last night’s win in Iowa, Democratic candidate Senator Barack Obama came to New Hampshire to begin his campaign for the January 8th primary. WATD reporter Beth Croughan tells us about the welcome he received in the Granite State.

[“Fired up! Ready to go! Ready to go!”] (Street supporters chanting)

Chanting loudly for honks and cheers, Senator Barack Obama supporters made their presence known on a street corner in Concord, New Hampshire, today. On the heels of Obama’s win in Iowa, the Illinois Senator came to New Hampshire with messages of hope.

[“This is our moment to make our mark on history.” Senator Barack Obama]

[“And if you will stand with me, if you will hope.” Senator Barack Obama]

[“You and me together will create the kind of America we believe in.” Senator Barack Obama]

At a rally at Concord High School, energized supporters invoked memories of the Kennedy era.

[“I haven’t been this excited since JFK.” Francis Warmin of, Hopkinton]

[“He brings the same excitement that I felt back then.” Peter Bragdon of Hopkinton]

The temperature was frigid today, but the Chair of New Hampshire Women for Obama, Ann McLane Kuster warmly welcomed the next phase of this campaign.

[“We’re fired up. Great snow, great skiing, great politics. That’s what New Hampshire’s all about.” Ann McLane Kuster of Hopkinton]

Senator Obama — along with other Democratic contenders, John Edwards and Senator Hillary Clinton — are set to attend the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s annual 100 club dinner this evening.
