115th’s Townsend on the Issues

Share

Here’s a look at the views of  Assemblyman David Townsend, R-Oneida, on issues affecting the 115th district:

The Economy:  “The state of Florida has 18 million citizens and $60 billion in their budget.  New York has 19 million citizens and $124 billion in their budget, so how come it cost Florida so much less to give their citizens the same benefits?  We need to look at the state’s budget and how they are spending it.”

Education:  “The cost of running a government doesn’t go down when taxes do, so the counties become responsible for making it up to the schools.  It’s time to scale back and take a serious look at how New York is spending.”

Healthcare:  “There’s nobody out there that is sick and doesn’t have healthcare. You can go to the doctor or the hospital and get fixed up.  Do we need the Cadillac of healthcare?  No.  Do we need the Cadillac of Medicare?  No.  What we need is a basic preventative healthcare program so people don’t have to wait until things get so dire to get help.”
