*On Nov. 6, Barack Obama won his bid for re-election, reaching 270 Electoral College votes before his opponents. In Central New York, he received 112,664 votes, according to the Onondaga County Board of Elections’ website.
Occupation— President of the United States, elected 2008; U.S. Senator from Illinois, elected 2004, served 2005 – 2008; member, Illinois State Senate 1997-2004; civil rights lawyer, taught constitutional law at University of Chicago Law School (1992-2004), community organizer (1985-1988).
