“As far as community, I’m real big on community. As far as fixing things and getting things done—schools, I have a daughter that’s in school. And also, somebody’s who for cutting a lot of things and helping us out in other ways.”

(Tanesha Wilson of Syracuse, Democrat, Bryant & Stratton student)

“I’d like to see more development. Spur some growth in that area. All of the old businesses are leaving and closing. We need to do something to bring new business in. Construction jobs to start those businesses out finally would be working jobs afterwards.”

(Jim Golbmbiewski of Solvay, Republican)

“I think she’s level headed and she speaks up for important things. I’m so tired of this city bending over backwards on social issues as opposed to the infrastructure and the tax situation in the city. A lot more needs to be addressed than schools.”

(Nancy White of Syracuse, Republican but votes Democrat and plans to vote for Democrat Stephanie Miner, employee at SU Law Library)

“The sweeping overhauls I think we need can’t be accomplished in one election. But we can certainly move in that direction. I’d like to see term limits, and I think we need a whole new fresh slate of legislators. I think the way the power structure is set up now it’s — about the only word you can use for it is it’s corrupt. There’s not enough incentive and motivation for these guys to do the right thing, and I think a lot of them are doing the wrong thing.”

(Charles Wason of DeWitt, Republican, employee at National Fire Adjustment Company, attorney)

“One of my biggest concerns is party politics and really people not, regardless of party, not coming together for the right reasons. I think especially economically. We’re in a time where we need to come together and we need to look at best interests–not what’s the party line or what’s going to get somebody something. It’s what’s best for the people. I’d like to see, especially in our state government, (people) working together to alleviate some of the burdens on all of us– financially and really make some progress. I think lately it’s been embarrassing.”

(Gavin Mac Lachlan of DeWitt, member of the Town of DeWitt Republican Board)
