CONCORD, N.H. (Jan.5) — Mike Huckabee is getting reinforcement in New Hampshire from a friend and former colleague from Arkansas. Richard Zussman tells us about an education expert who will be helping the former governor in the Granite State.
Central Arkansas University President Lu Hardin has spent the last two days traveling with his wife Mary to New Hampshire to support his friend Mike Huckabee. But Hardin says the two days of travel was worth to send a message to his students at home in Arkansas.
[“I want the students at the university of Central Arkansas to be passionate about a candidate and a cause. Whether I agree with that position or not I want them to believe in something, I want them to believe in something.” Hardin]
Hardin is here in New Hampshire promoting Huckabee’s education plan. Hardin praised Huckabee’s success in keeping college students in Arkansas after graduation. Hardin says this is how Huckabee did it:
[“By including private colleges in the governor’s distinguished scholarship– 4 years later after aggressively expanding the scholarship we went from 38 percent of the best of the brightest to 88 percent of the best and the brightest staying in the state.” Hardin]
Hardin says it is important for him to be in New Hampshire so that voters can hear from those who know Huckabee best.
