*For the 2013, David Knapp is running for re-election as County Legislator- District 12 after winng in the fall of 2011. For the 2011 election, Knapp won the GOP designation against incumbent Robert Cox (R-Pompey), who was appointed by County Executive Joanie Mahoney in March 2011. Cox challenged Knapp to a primary for the party’s nomination. Knapp won the primary to secure the party’s nomination with 962 votes compared to Cox’s 403 votes, as of Sept. 13, 2011.

Education — Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Army Air Defense School

Family—Wife, Donna; three children: Devon, Shannon and Oliver

Community Involvement — Treasurer of the LaFayette Apple Festival, board member of the LaFayette Historical Society and Optimist Club, past commander of the AMVETS Post 1025, volunteer for the LaFayette Community Council’s youth lacrosse program, elder at the Columbian Presbyterian Church in LaFayette, member of former Congressman Jim Walsh’s Military Academy Selection Board
